For Couples
You have just entered a whole new phase of life that will take you through ups and downs. Everything is different from what you expected. But in the midst of the chaos, you still have each other.
Perhaps you frequently feel misunderstood or lonely. Unseen in your pain. Or you simply lack a starting point for how to proceed. I will guide you in approaching each other without judgment and with appreciation. Discussing what is important to you. And working together on concrete solutions. So that you can truly enjoy quality time with your favorite companion in life again.
Here are some examples of topics that can be covered in counseling. The process and duration of counseling are tailored to your individual needs and experiences.
A life together instead of side by side
Whilst one of you looks after the little treasure in your life, the other is at work, doing the housework, going shopping, etc., and you hardly have any time left for each other. You’d like to get back to being ‘us’ and not just living side by side – as a couple, but also together as a family. You want to feel heard, seen, understood and loved again. Together, we’ll work on issues such as communication, appreciation and mindfulness. We’re looking at how to plan and make the most of quality time together as a couple or as a family – so you can fall in love all over again.
Working together to find solutions
Somehow, everything seems to have reached a deadlock. Each of you wants something different and you just can’t seem to see eye to eye. Yet you want a solution that works for both of you. I invite you to try a different kind of change of perspective. Together, we’ll brainstorm possibilities, evaluate their pros and cons, set evaluation criteria, and I’ll guide you in choosing a solution that works for both of you. We will then draw up an implementation plan, identify specific steps, set a timeline, and implementation can begin. I’d also be happy to help you stay on top of this.
Consciously shaping your work-family balance
It’s not that easy to earn a living and look after a little miracle. Perhaps you’re currently thinking about your maternity leave plans – when and to what extent you want to return to work, and what will happen to your little one in the meantime. Often, people fall back into the traditional gender roles of breadwinner versus carer. Each of you wants to be seen and recognised for your day-to-day efforts. You’re wondering which personalised solution might be right for you. Together, we’ll go through the options available to you. We’ll discuss the impact on your finances and your family life. I’m also happy to support you during times of transition, when doubts often arise as to whether you’ve made the right decision.
Supporting one another in difficult times
You’re going through a very difficult time right now. Perhaps you’re looking after a baby who cries a lot, or you’re struggling with low mood. Perhaps you’ve had an emergency operation, a baby in the NICU, or a stillbirth. You want to get through these challenges together, support and encourage one another – simply be there for each other. Together, we’ll focus on ensuring you feel safe, find relief, have more energy, and can finally feel a sense of lightness again. I will support you as you emerge from this crisis stronger than before.
Sharing values, aspirations and plans for the future
Sometimes you just feel very caught up in your own thoughts. You find yourselves pondering questions about what matters to you, what your future should look like, and whether your aspirations will actually take you there. You wonder what you have in common in terms of values, aspirations and plans for the future. Together, we’ll work on issues of identity, core beliefs and future scenarios. We’ll create vision statements to provide greater clarity and direction.
